WELCOME
We are native English-speaking siblings, who grew up here in Catalonia. Our father is British, and our mother is Dutch. We are both married to Catalans and have an extensive knowledge of the Catalan way of life. We have travelled and lived in several countries, so we are able to identify with different cultures and people.
Our mother is an accomplished and talented chef and our father a collector and consumer of fine wines. This heritage has been passed down to us, we are happy to continue along these lines.

PENEDÈS
A short forty-minute drive from Barcelona’s city center lies the wine region of Penedès. Home to some of the finest sparkling wines of Spain as well as an abundance of outstanding still wines, this area is a haven of peace and tranquillity. In spring and in summer the vines are vibrant hues of green, in autumn they stand golden and russet in the gentle sun, whilst the winter landscape shows the vines stripped bare, their regal twisted trunks and arms peacefully dormant against the winter skies. With 170 wine cellars, there is a great deal to choose from. We have chosen a selection of enchanting wine cellars in the region and invite you to accompany us on this magical journey.

ALELLA
Nestled between the mountain range of la Serralada Litoral and the Mediterranean Sea, this tiny region is made of just 8 wine cellars and a mere 300 hectares, (740 acres) of vineyards. It is an easy stone’s throw away from the center of Barcelona. Home to the Pansa Blanca (Xarel.lo) grape, we can find some delightful crisp white wines in this area. Their reds and sparkling wines are also not to be missed. The cellars we have selected for you have some spectacular views of the twinkling sea or are comfortably snug at the foot of the mountains. There are some fascinating stories behind some of these age-old cellars and the families that run them. We would be happy to share them with you.

PRIORAT
The winding roads lead you through the singular landscapes of this captivating region. On either side, steep slopes with row upon row of vineyards and interspersed among them, solitary cacti spring up out of nowhere as though one was in the Wild West. As you climb higher you pass through villages where time stands still. Cobble-stoned streets lead to tiny age-old chapels and venerable wine cellars, each with its own exceptional history. Round a corner, the view suddenly extends far into the distance, vineyards pepper the countryside in intricate rows of ancient vines. This is an area full of small quaint wine cellars as well as spectacular more modern buildings, each of them with its own identity and uniqueness. The exclusive wines of the DOQ Priorat are renowned all over the world. This is a little further away from the city of Barcelona, but well worth the visit.

PLA DE BAGES
In the late 19th century, this emblematic wine region, with over 25.000 hectares of vineyards, was the largest in Catalunya. Nowadays the vineyards occupy an area of approximately 500 hectares, with 17 wine cellars. It is famous for its numerous ‘Tines’, stone wine deposits that were usually built in or near the vineyards. The grapes were formerly pressed in these deposits and then transferred to other stone deposits on a lower level to begin their fermentation. Some wine cellars are starting to use these ‘Tines’ again for their wines. There are several interesting indigenous grape varieties such as Picapoll (principally a white grape but also a red variety) or others that have been recovered like Mandó which at one time almost disappeared. Many of the vineyards face the magical Montserrat mountain, its stone figures watching over the vines in silent companionship.
